These new technological developments are rapidly changing the media landscape and driving a media revolution. The percentage of people in the world who use the Internet has risen from roughly 10% in 2005 to 36% in 2011. ![]() The world is now more connected than it was ten years ago, as technologies and means of communications have developed. Can actions be taken to prevent some forms of media from becoming the voice of terrorist groups?.Can new sources of information such as WikiLeaks constitute a threat to international security?.How has the development of the Internet and the media revolution affected international security? Has this revolution increased or decreased the role of states?.The interest is rooted in the fear that not to tackle the problem jointly would prove too costly. International security then is a process in which international actors have a shared interest in co-operating with one another in order to solve a common problem which threatens their security, possibly their very existence. ![]() Media educates and keeps the public informed about the national and international political and other human realities taking place in everyday life. It should provide balanced account to the people. Ideally, media should be impartial and free from the propaganda mechanisms. Like the famous term 'CNN factor' during the Cold War, now international media and other information resources are being used to promote the state agenda e.g. Although the role of media in international politics is positive, sometimes it is influenced and used by the major actors as a source of propaganda to promote their interests and bring desired changes in the prevailing system. Media is the key source of information and has become political, therefore, it has a potential to influence the global structure and it may bring a change in the structure. ![]()
